Practice Expectations
General Expectations
- I expect that you will be at practice every day unless you have spoken with me ahead of time.
- I expect that all of my athletes will come to practice ready to give 100% effort. We are only as good as the effort we put in.
- No chewing gum
- No talking in the boats
- You must come wearing appropriate clothing. In spring this includes long sleeves and pants.
- Be prepared to go outside, even during winter training. I will try to let you know ahead of time as well.
- Respect yourself, respect your teammates, respect your coach.
Indoor Training
- 3:30-3:40 Pack bags and leave them by your locker. Your backpacks MUST be packed before practice.
- 3:40-3:45-Warm up on the ergs
- 3:45-5:30 Practice
- 5:30-Change and go to LS Lobby
On water
- 3:30-3:40 Pack bags and change.Be changed and down at water by 3:45
- 3:40-RUN to the water.
- 3:45-3:55 -- Short warm up on land-wrestler (5)
- 3:55-Set launches
- 4:00-Hands on boats, on the water
- 3 minutes to get boat on dock and push off
- Tie in on the water
- Warm up on water
- Practice
- 5:15-return to land
- Put boat, cox box, tools, oars, launch stuff away
- Stretch
- 5:25 Run up to School
It's not necessarily the amount of time you spend at practice that counts; it's what you put into the practice.
Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do.
